IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
Foreign nationals can apply for admission for the 2026-27 academic year . The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in. The window closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes students holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. Two referees who can submit recommendation letters are also required.
Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude. They will comment on proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking will be evaluated. English language proficiency, both oral and written, will also be reviewed.
Academic Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE fellowship is also an accepted criterion.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English Proficiency Tests
Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also acceptable.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
