Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are accepted through the official website at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 pm on the deadline date.
Admission Process
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.
Selection Criteria
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview committee will comprise faculty members from the relevant discipline.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.
