The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement on their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international examinations. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.
International exam scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations.
The interview committee will comprise faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
