Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from foreign nationals for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
International students can apply for the academic year 2026-27 through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The deadline for submission is 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), DST INSPIRE, Graduate Records Examination (GRE), or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also required.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
