The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is open to foreign national students for the academic years 2026-27. Interested candidates can apply through the official website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Deadline and Eligibility
The application portal closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency.
Admission Requirements
Candidates must provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters commenting on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national and international examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), DST INSPIRE, Graduate Records Examination (GRE), and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Acceptable tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
