Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals can submit applications via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. The referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Admission Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from national-level entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores are also accepted. Accepted tests include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English Proficiency Tests
Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be considered.
Selection Process
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. An interview panel of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the assessment.
