IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Details

Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. The application window closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can supply recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

In addition to academic qualifications, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. Scores from international examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Applicants will also undergo an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Those with a strong academic record will be invited for this interview. The selection committee will evaluate the candidate’s potential for research and independent thinking.
