IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. The deadline for submitting applications is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Eligibility and Application

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. The official application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi considers scores from various standardized tests for admission. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE)

For international applicants, scores from examinations such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may be required. English language proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also necessary.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate their suitability for the program.
