Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are being accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website, international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Deadline and Eligibility
The application portal for foreign national candidates will close on March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM . Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills, according to an official notification.
Academic and Language Proficiency Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from examinations like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) can also be considered. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
