The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. Applications are being accepted until March 30, 2026 . Eligible foreign nationals can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

The application window closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 . This intake is for the academic year 2026-27. Both PhD and PG courses are available.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must also demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration.
Application Requirements
Applicants need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Standardized test scores may be required. These include:
- GATE
- CSIR
- UGC NET
- DST INSPIRE
International test scores are also considered:
- GRE
- GMAT
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- TOEIC
- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members.
