IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

The admissions portal for foreign nationals is available at international.iitd.ac.in . Applications will be accepted until 4 p.m. on the deadline date.

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to submit a statement or self-declaration. Two referees will provide recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates. Their comments will cover aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills. This information is stated in the official notification.

Admission Requirements

Applicants may need to submit scores from specific entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) scores are also considered.

The DST INSPIRE program is another option. Scores from international tests are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on interview performance. Those with strong academic records receive interview invitations. An interview committee of faculty members will assess applicants.

English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.
