IIT Delhi has opened admissions for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. Applications are now being accepted through the institute’s official international admissions portal.
The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Students can apply for the academic year 2026-27 via the website international.iitd.ac.in .
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency.
They must also provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission Requirements
Applicants may need to submit scores from national or international standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also accepted.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
