IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for foreign nationals. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Eligible candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The institute is accepting applications for the academic year 2026-27. Non-Indian citizens, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for both PhD and PG courses.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Scores
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
