Referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills, according to the institute’s notification.
While not always mandatory, candidates may submit scores from national entrance exams like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores from GRE or GMAT can also be considered for eligibility.
English Proficiency Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination. A self-declaration of proficiency is also an initial requirement.
Selection Criteria
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. This interview assesses their suitability for advanced study and research.
