IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. They must also provide contact information for two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to evaluate candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.

Required Scores and Assessments

Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program is also a recognized pathway.

International examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are mandatory.

Selection Process

Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
