Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are now open for foreign national students for the academic year 2026-27.
The application window closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Interested students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration statement.
Candidates must also provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Required Scores and Assessments
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require specific test scores. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Furthermore, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will grant admissions based on interview performance. Students with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. Interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant disciplines.
