The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. The application process is conducted online through the institute’s official international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Specific test scores may be required for eligibility:
- For PhD and PG Programs: Candidates may need to submit scores from tests like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE.
- International Examinations: Scores from GRE or GMAT may also be considered.
- English Proficiency: Applicants must submit scores from recognized English language tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department. This interview assesses their overall suitability for the program.
