Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, can apply. The application website is international.iitd.ac.in . This intake is for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Academic and Test Score Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International English language proficiency tests are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
