IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration statement.
Application Requirements
Candidates must provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. Scores from standardized tests may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.
English Proficiency Tests
Applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be accepted.
