IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Admissions Process

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Applicants must also provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection

Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with faculty members from their chosen discipline. The interview committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
