The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
International students, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27. The official application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement on their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.
Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant disciplines.
