Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27 through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
The application window closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 . Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referee Recommendations
Referees will assess candidates on their overall aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking ability, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. International examination scores, such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), are also considered.
Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
The final selection is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
