IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered. Proficiency in English language tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is required.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
