The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Prospective students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on the application deadline date.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
While not explicitly stated as mandatory for all, scores from national entrance exams like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE may be considered for PhD and PG admissions. International examination scores, such as GRE or GMAT, can also be submitted.
Candidates may also be required to provide scores from standardized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
