IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. Two referees must also provide recommendation letters. These letters will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Proof of English language proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English is necessary. Candidates may need to submit scores from these examinations.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
