IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, can submit their applications online. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in. The window closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will supply recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
