IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Process and Requirements

Candidates must apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in . The application portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026.

Applicants need to submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will be assessed on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from national-level entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Criteria

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The committee will evaluate their suitability for the chosen PhD or PG program.
