IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Details

The application portal will remain open until 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026. Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

To be eligible for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from national or international examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for Indian applicants. International applicants may submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.

English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examinations. Candidates must also submit academic records and potentially GRE or GMAT scores.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. Admission decisions will be made following the interview process.
