IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is for foreign national students for the academic year 2026-27 . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .

International students, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility may require scores from national tests such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate their suitability for the program.
