Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Admission Overview
Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Academic and Test Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from Indian standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
