IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from foreign nationals for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.

Eligibility Criteria

The admissions are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency.

Application Requirements

Candidates must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Academic Qualifications and Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national examinations such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will grant admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
