IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must visit the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in to submit their applications.
Applicants need to provide a statement declaring their English proficiency. They must also name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may include scores from national entrance examinations. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates are also required to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be considered.
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will interview candidates with strong academic records. The interview assesses overall suitability for the program.
