The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are being accepted online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal, international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Details
The application window for foreign nationals closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Submission of scores from national entrance examinations like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) may be required for PhD and PG programs. The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) fellowship is also mentioned.
International examination scores, including Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), are acceptable. Proficiency in English language tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is also a requirement.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
