IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can submit their applications online at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on overall aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Admission Requirements

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Those with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
