IIT Delhi has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. Applications are accepted online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM . The admission cycle is for the academic years 2026-27.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English proficiency.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Academic Requirements
Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These include GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International test scores like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview committee will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. Applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
