IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window for the 2026-27 academic year closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Requirements
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide letters of recommendation.
The notification states referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance exams. These include GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, and DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International standardized test scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered.
Final admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. Applicants must also submit scores from English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
