IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program for PhD and PG admissions.

International examination scores like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. Furthermore, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on candidate performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
