IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can submit their applications online. The application portal will remain open until 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Prospective students can find the application link on the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International tests like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Candidates are also required to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive invitations for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
