The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for the academic year 2026-27. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Eligibility and Selection
Admission may require scores from national-level examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
IIT Delhi will base final admission decisions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty committees in their chosen discipline. Proficiency in English will be verified through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
