IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the 2026-27 academic year. Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

Eligibility Criteria

Admission to PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International test scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will receive an invitation to interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
