Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals can apply for the academic year 2026-2027 via the official website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency.
Application Requirements
Candidates must name two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. The application portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 .
Academic and Test Score Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examinations are also accepted:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
