The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Admission Overview
The application portal is open for the academic year 2026-27. Non-Indian citizens are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They will also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude. They will assess proficiency in the chosen field and research potential. Independent thinking and English communication skills are also evaluated.
Academic Eligibility and Testing
IIT Delhi may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other accepted tests are CSIR or UGC NET. The DST INSPIRE fellowship is also considered.
For international applicants, scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may be required. Proficiency in English language tests is also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
