IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are due by March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

In addition to academic records and test scores, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the program.
