IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International students can also submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency must be demonstrated through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will offer admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interviews.
