IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.

Application Process

Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal will close on March 30, 2026.

Applicants need to submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two academic referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission requirements may include scores from national tests such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency must be demonstrated. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
