IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , by 4 PM.

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Admissions are for the academic years 2026-27. Interested students should visit the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in to submit their applications.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide letters of recommendation. Their comments will focus on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility Criteria and Test Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may include scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program. International applicants may also submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency is mandatory. Applicants must submit scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. A strong academic record is also a key factor in the selection process.

Selection Process

The final selection will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview. They will assess candidates’ suitability for the chosen program.
