IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) can also be submitted.

Applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The committee will evaluate the candidate’s overall suitability for the program.
