IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. Applications are now being accepted for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Interested candidates must demonstrate English proficiency through a self-declaration. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Application Details

Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The official notification details these requirements.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) schemes.

International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) can also be submitted. Admission will be based on performance in an interview conducted by a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.

Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
