IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will evaluate candidates on their overall aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English language ability. This information comes from the institute’s official notification.

Academic and Language Requirements

To be considered for PhD and PG programs, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores such as GRE and GMAT are also accepted.

Proficiency in English must be demonstrated. Applicants must submit scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also considered.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
