The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility
Eligibility is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to submit a self-declaration of their English language skills.
Application Requirements
The application process requires candidates to nominate two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters. The IIT Delhi notification states referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Submission of scores from standardized tests may be necessary. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program scores are also relevant for PhD and PG admission.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with a strong academic record will receive an invitation. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The interview committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.

Admissions are for the academic years 2026-27 .
